Solenn, Benjamin go all the way in 'Misterio De La Noche'
Filipino-French star Solenn Heussaff and actor Benjamin Alves went daring in the horror-fantasy-drama "Misterio De La Noche," an entry to the Cinemalaya 2019 film festival at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
"Misterio De La Noche" is a period horror-drama flick that tackles the first reported mananaggal in the countryside.
Scenes showed Solenn in nude as she portrays the role of an 18-year-old lass who falls in love with Benjamin during an encounter in the forest.
Solenn transforms into a ghastly creature after her love affair with Benjamin went wrong.
Both stars said that by far, "Misterio" is the most difficult movie they have done.
Asked how she was convinced to go naked on screen, Solenn laughed and said: "I'm French. I have no inhibitions."
"Napakaliit lang ng part ng nudity doon. It's the story which requires us to be emotional," said Benjamin during an informal press conference after the movie premier at the CCP Little Theater over the weekend.
Solenn said that the most difficult part of the movie was pretending she was "eating the babies."
"You have to do it na parang tutoo. And then I get to kill people rin. And then we have to shoot in the forest for days. That's difficult," she added.
Pageant guru Jonas Gaffud, creative and events director for Miss Universe Philippines and one of the producers of the film, said it was director Adolfo Borinaga Alix Jr. who convinced the two stars to do the movie.
Gaffud also said that he doesn't have any idea how the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board will take the pumping and masturbation scenes once the film goes on regular showing. "We will see."
In July, "Misterio" made its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, Canada.
"Ibang-iba ang crowd reactions ng mga Canadians at Filipinos sa ganitong klaseng pelikula. Siguro sila (Canadians) sanay na sa ganitong genre pero tayong mga Pinoy nakakatuwa ang reaction natin," said Alix.
About about his belief in manananggal, Benjamin said: "I believe in those creatures."
But Solenn gave a mixed reaction. "I'm having second thoughts about it. Walang kasing aswang sa France." - (ROBERŤ REQUINTINA)
