Aya Abesamis, Alex Diaz grace Auction For A Cause at Top of the Alpha

Reigning Bb. Pilipinas Grand International Aya Abesamis and actor-social media influencer Alex Diaz graced the Auction For A Cause featuring the works of Annette Chambers held at the Top of the Alpha in Makati City last March 4.

Mafae Yunon-Belasco, former Miss World 2003 top 5 finisher and PR and Marketing Officer for the event, said that proceeds for the event would benefit the Philippine National School for the Blind (PNSB) and the Philippine Cerebral Palsy Inc.

Abesamis has expressed support for the PNSB, the country's premier school for learners with visual impairment. She is one of the ambassadors for the James MacKay Foundation which supports the PNSB.

"The last time I went there, they have a lot of things already. But then there are still certain facilities lacking. Seeing the potential of the students, like when they do arts, it's really amazing. How do they
really do it? Having all that senses, it's really amazing," Abesamis said.

The beauty queen from Pasig also hinted at future projects after her reign in Bb. Pilipinas.

"For now, I'd rather work for it than say it. In the future, you might see me in the arts scene, fashion and maybe show business," she said.

Diaz, 25, co-hosted the silent auction event.

He said that he is excited to work with Hollywood star Sam Worthington in the new movie called "CounterPlay" which will be shot in most parts of the Philippines in August.

"The script is amazing. I am looking forward to appear in this movie," Diaz said.

After he finished shoots for his "I Want" series, Diaz said that he will focus in preparing for the international film.

"I am busy with my 'I Want' series right now. After that, I need to be skinny in this movie. I'm buff as you can see. And I need to grow my hair out. I also need to learn the Australian language," he said.

Diaz will be playing James Alexander who is wrongfully accused of smuggling drugs in the Philippines."

"CounterPlay" will be produced by Scott Rosenfelt, and to be directed by Pedring Lopez. "This is something to look forward to," said Belasco.

She added: "MAM Holdings Entertainment will be the first company of its kind, to work with Filipino talent in front of and behind the camera, along with visiting long time established Hollywood veterans, to provide content that explores Filipino and Asian stories that have commercial and international appeal." - Robert Requintina
