Maffi Papin Carrion: Growing up with mom like 'bed of roses'



Newly crowned Noble Queen of the Universe Maffi Papin Carrion has said that growing up with her mom OPM legend now VIce Governor of Camarines Sur Imelda Papin is like "a bed of roses" as she imparts the many lessons she learned from her.

"Being with my mom has been like a bed of roses or all bed with no roses. She could be my most devoted fan, admirer, or mentor while being the strict disciplinarian when the need arises," said Carrion in an exclusive online interview.

Carrion also said that her mom is her ultimate idol when it comes to integrity, dynamism, and passion.

"I cannot help but feel enamoured with my mom's experience when she was still earning her stripes towards stardom. It was her upbringing which I used as a model for my way of living characterized by integrity, dynamism, and passion. This has made all the difference in who I am today as a responsible person of society," the beauty queen said.

Asked about the important lessons her mom shared to her, Carrion said: "The most important lessons imparted to me by mom are the virtues of gratitude and placing family above all else in the hierarchy of priorities."

She added: "I learned from her that there is always something to be thankful for and something to be gained whatever reversal of fortune life may dish out. When we manifest gratitude, we attract to ourselves positivity and more blessings. One such blessing is having a loving family which we must cherish at all times."

Carrion said that the first Imelda Papin song she learned to sing was the megahit "Bakit? (Kung Liligaya Ka sa Piling ng Iba)".

Her favorite Imelda Papin song is "Bakit Ikaw Pa" because "this song mirrors the ups and downs of my life and its charming lyrics resonate vividly with me."

Carrion who is also a singer said that she is into acoustics and pop ballads when it comes to music.

The new beauty queen has been exposed to charity work involving projects helping the poor and supporting the needy communities ever since she was young.

Through the Noble Queen of the Universe platform, Carrion also hopes to help discover and develop those with musical potentials and steer young people towards more productive and meaningful activities.
