Teen queens to new bets: Be yourself, share advocacies

Two teen queens of Miss Philippines Youth beauty pageant shared their pieces of advice to the incoming candidates of the teen competition as they encouraged them to be themselves and share their advocacies.

"As what I keep on telling them during our events, just be yourself and always  do things from the heart. Sincerity is important not only in the pageant but also in our life," said Rikki Mae dela Pena, reigning Miss Philippine Youth, during an interview.

Simone Nadine Bornilla, the first Miss Philippine Youth titleholder, encouraged the girls to share their advocacies to the world.

"I’d want to tell them to keep in mind that this isn’t only a pageant, but it is also a platform for them to be able to express their thoughts and opinions, and of course to share their advocacies and find people who can help them live it out," said Bornilla, now designer of Simone Swimwear.

She added: "Aside from this, I would also like to tell them to enjoy this journey and make the most out of it for the memories that they would be creating with their co-candidates could be memories that would last for a lifetime."

One of the candidates in the Miss Philippine Youth 2020 pageant is Patricia M. Cruz, daughter of Mayor Jennifer M. Cruz, also known as Ina Alegre. She will represent Pola in Oriental Mindoro, the province municipality of her mom.

Patricia is also the daughter of Major General Gilbert Cruz of the Philippine National Police.

In 2015, Patricia represented the Philippines in Princess of the Universe pageant in Bulgaria. - (Robert Requintina)
