Davao’s famous Blugre Coffee now in Manila
Since 1998, Blugre Coffee has been making waves in Davao for its signature drink, the Durian Coffeeccino. It’s a concoction that has proven to be unforgettable to whoever has tried it.
According to Romina Villaflor-Wilson, a Filipino living abroad, “The last time I had Durian Coffee was about 10 years ago, at the Matina Town Square shop, and I can still vividly remember how it tastes! Must fly back to Davao the next time I’m in the country to savor it again.”
Aside from the Durian Coffeeccino, Blugre Coffee also offers flavorful espresso, latte and mocha, as well as delectable desserts like Choco Torte with Cream Sauce, Durian de Leche Cheesecake and Red Velvet Cake.
Today, the coffee shop is a go-to destination of both Davaoenos and tourists. Because of its exceptional products, relaxing ambience and friendly service, Blugre Coffee is credited for boosting the coffee culture in Davao. Testament to this are the recognitions it has been bestowed upon by National Shopper’s Choice Awards (where it is a Hall of Famer), Asia-Pacific Shopper’s Institute which named it Best Coffee Shop in Davao, Shopper’s Choice Magazine, Essence Privilege Card, and the Asian Philippine Association of Marketing Professionals.
Mr. Benjamin Cuaresma, Jr., and Ms. Gloria Cuaresma, owners of the establishment, are happy to announce that Blugre Coffee is expanding to Manila. By February 8 of this year, Davao’s first specialty coffee shop will have three branches in Metro Manila:Malacanang Complex, 1558 J.P. Laurel St., San Miguel, Manila; Taguig, C-24 11th Avenue corner 26th Street, Bonifacio Global City; and Manila East, Unit 101 Manila East Arcade 2 Bldg. Don Hilario Cruz Avenue, Brgy. San Juan, Taytay, Rizal.
“This development is in response to the many customers who’ve been clamoring for us to expand,” explains Mr. Cuaresma. “We are happy that now we’ll be able to bring the Blugre Coffee experience to our new patrons in Metro Manila, hopefully soon, to other places.”
For 2017, the management is aiming for bigger growth. The team is eyeing the creation of new branches through franchising. “Our proposition is as unique as Davao’s famous Durian Coffeeccino Our coffee shop is highly established, marketable and much sought-after,” Mr. Cuaresma points out.
To entice future franchisees, it is worth noting that no less than world-famous boxer, Senator Manny Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee, are owners of a Blugre Coffee franchise. The celebrity couple has opened franchise stores in General Santos city.
Blugre Coffee’s franchise is flexible as it offers two formats: a counter or kiosk and a full store. The counter requires an area of at least 30 square meters, while the full store requires an area of at least 100 square meters. Franchise fee and total investment are below the cost of similar franchise businesses. Plus, franchise owners have the distinction of owning coffee shop that is proudly 100-percent Filipino.
