Jessy Mendiola takes up pattern in fashion school

Actress Jessy Mendiola is back to school at the Creative School of Entrepreneurship, Fashion and Design.

Mendiola is enrolled in pattern-making that can lead to sewing and then fashion designing, according to a report on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on ABS-CBN recently.

"Right now I'm taking pattern first but eventually I want to go all the way. From pattern making, sewing, designing, then eventually, I can try making clothes na," said Mendiola in a statement sent to the late-night show.

"Matagal ko na pong pangarap na makagawa ng mga damit. Pero wala lang po akong lakas ng loob gawin at matuto. Ngayon lang po ako nagkaroon ng courage to try something new. Sakto napadaan ako sa school one day kaya feeling ko po meant to be po," she added.

Abunda said Mendiola and her friend were strolling at a mall when they saw the school.

On her Instagram posts, Mendiola appeared to be enjoying school with her small group of classmates and her homework.

"I survived my first day," said Mendiola in one of her posts after school.

Television host-actor Luis Manzano, boyfriend of Mendiola, said that he is excited for his girlfriend's new venture.

"Sobra kaming natuwa, kaming dalawa actually that she gets to venture outside of showbiz, na there's more to life than showbiz," Manzano said.

"Pag magkasama kami, gumagawa kami ng paraan para matapos 'yung homework n'ya. Nakakagulat nga kasi sinasabi nya 'wait love habang may ginagawa ka, gagawin ko lang itong pattern ko,' " recalled Manzano.

Mendiola, 24, also wanted to learn photography and scriptwriting. "Gusto rin nyang pasukan 'yan so napakamari."

Abunda wished Mendiola good luck in her studies.

Mendiola starred in the recent movie "Extra Service." She regularly appears in the weekly Kapamilya sitcom "Banana Sundae" and ASAP. - Robert Requintina/Tempo
