Is Yassi Pressman the next 'Darna'?

Kapamilya star Yassi Pressman has said that it would be an honor to play "Darna" but admitted that there is still no offer for the role.

"Sobrang laki ng honor na kahit sabihin mo na even if I don't get to play the role at isa ako sa iniisip nila na posible (na maging Darna), sobrang nakakatuwa. Thankful pero wala pa po talaga," said Pressman during an interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on ABS-CBN recently.

Pressman, 21, has just signed an exclusive contract with the Kapamilya network.

Recently, her loyal fans and supporters have launched an online campaign for Pressman to play the popular fictional Filipino comics superheroine.

Among the stars who have played the role of Darna include Rosa del Rosario, Gina Pareno, Sharon Cuneta, Lorna Tolentino, Rio Locsin, Nanette Medved, Anjanette Abayari, Katrina Halili, Angel Locsin, Marian Rivera, Vilma Santos, etc.

After Angel Locsin backed out of the new Darna movie for health reasons, netizens have campaigned for their idols for the plum role. Those names earlier being floated for the role were Nadine Lustre, Jessy Mendiola, KC Concepcion.

For more than one year now, Star Cinema, the studio that will produce the new "Darna" fillm, has been searching for the next female lead star. It will be directed by Erik Matti.

Pressman is currently seen in the Kapamilya primetime series "Ang Probinsyano" and "A Love to Last."

She was introduced in the teleserye "Gulong Ng Palad" on ABS-CBN in 2006. Then she also starred in "Time of My Life," "Luna Blanca," "Cielo de Angelina," "The Borrowed Wife," "Rhodora X," "Whatpad Presents: My Fiance Since Birth

Pressman made her movie debut in "Tween Academy: Class of 2012" in 2011. Her other film credits were "Diary ng Panget," "Felix Manalo," "Wang Fam," "Girlfriend for Hire," and "Camp Sawi." - Robert Requintina/Tempo
