Katarina Rodriguez to give up Bb Pilipinas 2017 crown?

Two days after she was crowned Bb Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017, Katarina Rodriguez reportedly told organizers of the prestigious local beauty pageant that she was giving up her crown for still unknown reasons.

"Katarina Rodriguez has expressed that she may not accept the crown," according to a reliable source from the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc., organizers of the annual beauty contest.

The same source said that "the BPCI is awaiting for a formal letter of resignation until today, May 2."

No other details were given.

But there were two versions as to why Rodriguez would reportedly give up her crown.

Unconfirmed reports said that Rodriguez was not happy with the Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental title because "it is a minor title."

Another unverified report said that Rodriguez has citizenship issue.

Charmaine Elima who won 1st runner-up may assume the Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental title, the source said.

Aside from the Bb Pilipinas Intercontinental crown, other titles awarded last Sunday, April 30, were Bb Pilipinas Universe, Bb Pilipinas International, Bb Pilipinas Supranational, Bb Pilipinas Grand International and Bb Pilipinas Globe.

Around 5 p.m., Rodriguez took to Twitter to react to the resignation rumors.

"And maybe think it's been two days since coronation which I obviously enjoyed so much. It was one of if not the funnest things I've done," she said.

"I never made any announcements that I'm not accepting the crown? Is it alright if everyone refrains from making assumptions first," Rodriguez added. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
