Whereto, Samantha Ashley Lo?

The party's over for Binibini Samantha Ashley Lo after she did not win the 7th Miss Grand International beauty pageant in Caracas, Venezuela Friday night (Saturday morning in Manila).

And the netizens ask: "What will happen to Samantha Lo?" "Is she coming back to Manila?" "Will she be dethroned by Binibining Pilipinas?" "Will the government file charges against her for using altered passport?" "What are her plans?"

So many questions. For now it remains to be seen what will happen to the controversial beauty queen.

Expectations were high for Lo to win the beauty contest. Unfortunately, she failed to advance to the top 20 semifinals.

The top 20 candidates were: Australia, Panama, South Africa, Guatemala, Spain, Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Japan, Paraguay, Colombia, Chile, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, Thailand, Mexico, Peru, and Ireland.

Miss Venezuela was crowned Miss Grand International 2019. Her court are: Mexico, 1st runner-up; Thailand, 2nd runner-up; Panama, 3rd runner-up; and  Brazil, 4th runner-up.

Lo may have topped the public voting for Best in National Costume. But with combined scores from judges, she failed to get the special award. The award went to Ecuador.

Sixty girls competed in this year's edition of Miss Grand International pageant, a contest that campaigns to help people become aware or concern about the effects of war and violence.

A day before the competition, Lo shared on Instagram her photos in a yellow two-piece swimsuit with the caption: "I stand tall and proud because I know I'm not alone There are 104.9 million other Filipinos all fighting right behind me."

Few hours before the pageant, Lo shared a video on Instagram. She captioned it with: "You attract what you're ready for."

Lo almost never made it to the Miss Grand International 2019 beauty pageant in Caracas, Venezuela.

On her way to Caracas, she traveled to Dubai and made a connecting flight in Paris, France.

But Lo was held for 13 hours by French authorities who discovered that her passport was "tampered with and altered."

Officials of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc.have denied Lo's allegations that they did not assist her when she was detained in Paris.

She was deported to Manila. Few days later, armed with an American passport, the beauty queen decided to fly to Venezuela and compete in Miss Grand International 2019 pageant.

Lo, 26, is an ESL (English as second language) instructor at Enderun College at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. She is a nursing graduate at University of Cebu.
