Why career, not fame, matters to Rikki Mae Dela Pena

Reigning Miss Philippine Youth International Rikki Mae Dela Pena has advised her peers to always choose career over fame.

“Career must be prioritized as it sets direction in our life and as part of the youth we must choose a career that we really love because by doing something that we really love, fame and success will follow," said Rikki Mae in an interview.

Rikki Mae also said that the youth can achieve their dreams through hardwork.

"I realized that no one can immediately be well known without doing some effort and by doing something that is right," she said.

Rikki Mae turned 21 last Sept. 4, the same day she celebrated her birthday with her mom Thess.
Her family celebrated the birthdays In China. Upon return, Rikki Mae joined a fashion show produced by Filipino Fashion Designer Organizer Association founder Rose Jorta last Sept. 21.

The beauty queen said that she was surprised there was a mini-birthday celebration after the fashion show. The golden gown was created by Randy Deleon Satin while the red outfit was done by Nora Buenviaje.

"I just came back to the Philippines and didn’t actually expect any birthday celebrations anymore. I was really surprised and touched. I cannot find words adequate enough to express my appreciation for the lovely surprise birthday segment you gave me. This is something that I would never forget during my reign as Miss Philippine Youth International 2019. Thank you so much for making it happen," said Rikki Mae. (Robert R. Requintina)
