Angel Locsin to fellow ABS-CBN stars: 'Ano? May career pa ba kayo?'

Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin lashed at her fellow Kapamilya movie and television stars who remain silent about the closure of major broadcast network ABS-CBN recently.

"Sa mga kasamahan kong artistang 'di nagsasalita, ano? May career pa ba kayo? Wala na! Wala na kayong network! Kahit magpa-cute kayo d'yan sa Instagram, mag-send kayo ng mga sad face, di n'yo madadamayan ang mga katrabaho n'yo na dahilan kung bakit kayo sumikat!" said Locsin during a speech at a rally in front ABS-CBN compound on Mother Ignacia Avenue in Quezon City on Saturday, July 18.

Locsin is one of the contract stars for ABS-CBN. Following her emotional speech, Locsin trended on Twitter. Locsin is one of the few Kapamilya stars who is very vocal about the shutdown after Congress rejected a new franchise for the broadcast network.

The whole-day rally started with a motorcade that went around Metro Manila in the morning. It also coincided with a march against the Anti-Terrorism Law which takes effect today, July 18.

Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and Mylene Dizon also participated in the noise barrage held in front of the network's compound.

An unconfirmed report said that of the 11,000 employees of ABS-CBN affected by the closure, only around 1,000 employees would be retained.

On July 16, employees of the Lifestyle Division of the network were said to be the first casualties of the shutdown.

Popular broadcaster Ces Orena-Drilon took to social media to inform her Kapamilya fans that she lost her job for the network.

"This was one of the toughest days I had to face. Telling fellow Kapamilyas that they would lose their jobs by end of August. I lost mine too," said Drilon - Robert Requintina
