Janicel Jaramilla Lubina is the Philippines bet for the 21st Top Model of the World Competition in Egypt on April 11.

By now, Palawan beauty and former Kasambahay Janicel Jaramilla Lubina is in El Gouna, Egypt to represent the country in the 21st Top Model of the World competition on April 11.

During send-off press conference held at the new Kimukatsu Restaurant at Shangri-la Plaza in Mandaluyong City, Lubina said she will promote the country's tourist destinations and the Filipinos "who love to welcome visitors.''

"There's so much fun in the Philippines. And they will really enjoy our country because there's so much to explore here. Of course, the warmth of Filipinos is one thing I can be proud of,'' said Lubina.
The 19-year-old dusky charmer is the reigning Slimmer’s World Miss Bikini Philippines. She stands 5-foot-8 and measures 34-22-34. A part-time model, Lubina was born in Narra, Palawan on April 1, 1994. She rose from her humble beginnings to become an icon of beauty and wellness, and eventually a sought-after ramp and commercial model.
She earned the right of representing the Philippines in the Top Model of the World 2014 competition by bagging the Miss Bikini Philippines 2013 title.
Lubina also said that she is very excited about her trip to Egypt because this is the first time that she will celebrate her birthday abroad.
“This is an opportunity to carry the name of the Philippines in an international beauty competition. Besides, I am turning 20 on April 1st and I will be celebrating my birthday for the first time in a foreign country," she also said.
Roberto de Venecia, speaking for Caroline De Venecia, Philippine franchise holder for Top Model of the World, said that Lubina will be safe in Egypt despite reports of crisis in the MidEast country. "The venue of the beauty pageant which is in El Gouna is far from Cairo. It's like Luzon and Mindanao. Otherwise, if there is indeed widespread crisis in Egypt, I would be the first one to defer her trip,'' De Venecia said.
Among her well-wishers include representatives from Slimmers World International, San Miguel Corporation, Kagandahang Flores beauty camp, among others.
Lubina will also try to equal the feat of Michelle de Leon who won the Top Model of the World title for the Philippines in 2007. Past Filipina delegates to the international modeling contest were Lorena Pangan (3rd runner-up, 1995), Cherry Ann Chavez (semi-finalist, 1997), Elizabeth Sison (1998), Justine Gabionza (4th runner-up, 2002), Rosita Defino (Miss Congeniality, 2008), Christi Lynn McGarry (semi-finalist, 2010), Madison Elliot (2011), Christina Davis (2012) and Shermaine de Ramos (2013).
