'Barangay 143' makes historic debut on GMA 7

The long wait is over! The first all-star Filipino anime entitled "Barangay 143" makes its historic debut on GMA 7 on Sunday,  October 21, at 10 a.m. Co-produced between Synergy88 Entertainment Media Inc., TV Asahi (Japan) and August Media Holdings (Singapore), the much-awaited weekly anime features a celebrity cast who lend their voices such as Cherie Gil, Alice Dixon and John Arcilla and millennial heartthrobs Julie Anne San Jose, Kelley Day, Migo Adacer, and Ruru Madrid. Kelley Day may pursue pageantry

Kapuso star Kelley Day says that she might consider beauty pageants soon if she's not busy with show business or modelling. "I've been considering it. But I never trained before so maybe I would invest a lot of time. Maybe for a year so that I will get familiar with the industry," says Kelley, during an exclusive interview at the LRT Santolan Station in Pasig City recently. Kelley, 18, is lending her voice for the first Filipino anime series dubbed "Barangay 143" which will be shown on GMA 7 in October. Other actors in the TV series include Ruru Madrid, Julie Anne San Jose, Migo Adecer, Edu Manzano, Cherie Gil, etc. The future beauty queen adds that she has been discussing pageantry with some of her beauty queen-friends. Kapuso star Ruru Madrid can't wait for his fans to watch "Barangay 143," the first Filipino anime that also features the favorite sports of many Filipinos which is basketball. The much-awaited Filipino anime series will debut on GMA 7 sometime in October. In the series, Ruru plays Wax, one of the lead characters. "I'm very happy to be part of this project kasi this is the first time na Japan and Philippines na mag-collaborate through an anime series. I'm also a fan of anime and basketball," the 20-year-old actor says. Ruru adds: ""Sobrang fan talaga ako ng anime. Kapuso star Julie Anne San Jose is thrilled and excited to be part of the first Philippine anime series "Barangay 143" which is set to premier on GMA 7 sometime in October this year. "Actually nagwo-workshop po kami for voice acting. We will deal with emotions para alam namin kung ano yung ibabato sa eksena," says Julie Anne, who will be part of the much-awaited anime series, during an exclusive interview at the trade launch of " Barangay 143 " at the Green Sun in Buendia, Makati City recently.
