Kapuso star Julie Anne San Jose is thrilled and excited to be part of the first Philippine anime series "Barangay 143" which is set to premier on GMA 7 sometime in October this year. New mobile app to revive original Filipino comics

A new mobile application has been developed that will allow users to access a growing library of original Filipino comic book content. Dubbed iKwento, the mobile app offers several wonderful features, including easy-to-read comic book panels specially designed for mobile readers. It will also give independent and mainstream Filipino comic book creators a way to bring their content to a wider audience by partnering with iKwento, created by Synergy 88 Digital. "We hope the app will revive the comic book industry, specially with the current generation. We also want to immortalize comic books before that were not published," said Marc Cua, iKwento project manager. Local creative industry gets backing from gov't

The Philippine government has expressed its full support to the local creative industry which involves art, animation, audio, and software engineering. This was revealed by Jackeline Chua, managing director and co-founder of Synergy88, a digital solutions company and art studio based in the Philippines. Chua said this after she joined the Philippine delegation at the External Development Summit held in Vancouver, Canada recently. "The Philippine booth was sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry. And the government officials were with us that time to experience what the conference was all about. Parang bago kasi ito sa kanila. I think they are very happy and they are sponsoring another booth next year," Chua said.
