Cyrille Payumo is the newly crowned Miss Tourism International 2019. In August, this 20-year-old beauty from Pampanga won 1st runner-up in Mutya Pilipinas 2019. In a sudden twist of fate, Payumo became the Philippine representative to the international pageant when the dual citizenship of Tyra Goldman from Nevada, original winner of Mutya Pilipinas Tourism International, did not sit well with the organizers of the 25-year-old pageant in Malaysia. Lady luck smiled at Payumo and now she's the fifth Filipina to win Miss Tourism International. These are a few of Payumo's favorite things. Cory tells millennials: 'Think before you post'

Mutya President Cory Quirino has one piece of advice to millennials joining pageants: think before you post. "Be very careful. What you do now, especially for the millennials joining other pageants, what you do today, what you post today, is going to haunt you tomorrow," said Quirino when asked about girls who dream of joining pageants, during a press send-off for Cyrille Payumo at CWC Interiors, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. Payumo will represent the Philippines at the Miss Tourism International 2019 pageant in Malaysia on Nov. 8. She left Oct. 23 for the competition. "There are times you are faced with the challenge of reaching your dreams, because of what you did in the past, many pageant organizers, if not most, can be lenient and understanding about those things. But there are pageant organizers that are very strict. And then they have to prepare you for the international competition whose standards are also very strict," said Quirino said. ...

Int'l beauty pageant rejects 'Mutya' winner

Mutya Pilipinas Tourism International 2019 Tyra Rae Goldman of Nevada will no longer represent the Philippines in the Miss Tourism International 2019 pageant after she was rejected by foreign organizers for having dual citizenship. This was confirmed by Mutya President Cory Quirino in a telephone conversation on Sept. 27. "They want a natural-born Filipina. The organizers of Miss Tourism International pageant have already apologized to us for the late notice," said Quirino. Mutya Pilipinas first runner-up Cyrille Payumo of Pampanga will replace Goldman in the Malaysia-based pageant in November. Mutya Pilipinas bets undergo self-defense training with PNP

For the first time in national pageant, the 40 candidates of Mutya Pilipinas 2019 immersed themselves in self-defense training as part of their women empowerment program. "It's all about women empowerment. I want them to learn to be vigilant, to be alert, and to know more self-defense moves," said  Mutya Pilipinas President Cory Quirino during an exclusive interview at the press presentation of the candidates held at Citadines Bay City Manila in Pasay City. Quirino said that Mutya Pilipinas coordinated with the Philippine National Police under General Rhodel O. Sermonia for the half-day seminar. "This is really my dream - to empower women in that way. I don't want to happen to them what happened to me in 1995," she said.
