In a sudden twist of fate, Payumo became the Philippine representative to the international pageant when the dual citizenship of Tyra Goldman from Nevada, original winner of Mutya Pilipinas Tourism International, did not sit well with the organizers of the 25-year-old pageant in Malaysia. Mutya President Cory Quirino has one piece of advice to millennials joining pageants: think before you post. "Be very careful. What you do now, especially for the millennials joining other pageants, what you do today, what you post today, is going to haunt you tomorrow," said Quirino when asked about girls who dream of joining pageants, during a press send-off for Cyrille Payumo at CWC Interiors, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. "There are times you are faced with the challenge of reaching your dreams, because of what you did in the past, many pageant organizers, if not most, can be lenient and understanding about those things. Mutya Pilipinas Tourism International 2019 Tyra Rae Goldman of Nevada will no longer represent the Philippines in the Miss Tourism International 2019 pageant after she was rejected by foreign organizers for having dual citizenship.
