Binibining Pilipinas 2020 postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19

The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) has postponed indefinitely the Binibining Pilipinas 2020 beauty pageant due to COVID-19, it was announced on May 25. Established in 1964, the Bb.Pilipinas pageant sends delegates to international pageants such as Miss International, Miss Grand International, Miss Supranational, Miss Intercontinental, and Miss Globe. In the past, the BPCI also sent delegates to the Miss Universe beauty contest (1964-2019) and Miss World pageant (1992-2010). The full announcement:

 The Binibining Pilipinas 2020 candidates spent time to tap on their creative side through an art session at the Gateway Gallery in Gateway Mall, Araneta City on Feb. 26. The Gateway Gallery once again opened its doors to the girls for an afternoon of art expression and aesthetics just before the National Arts Month ends. The Binibining Pilipinas candidates were mentored by Philippines’ finest watercolorists Mr. Jen Utleg Consumido, Mr. Joemari Sanclair Chua, Mr. Dan Macapugay and Mr. Carlo Cortez in enhancing the ladies' creativity on visualizing and translating advocacies into works of art. Binibini Alexandra Mae Rosales has been working for Okada Manila for three years now when she decided to go on leave to compete in Bb. Pilipinas 2020 pageant. Through the prestigious Bb. Pilipinas contest, Rosales said that she hopes to use this platform as a voice to help spread animal welfare in the country. "Many people lack awareness on animal care. Hanggang ngayon may thinking pa rin ang iba na unahin ang tao dahil hayop lang iyan. They are living creatures given to us by God. I believe God gave animals to us so that we can take care of them not to exploit them," said Rosales during an interview recently. "Sometimes we use them for our resources.
