17th Franchise and Business Expo set on Feb. 1-3

The Association of Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI) announced the holding of the 17th Franchise and Business Expo at the World Trade Center in Pasay City on Feb. 1-3 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. With the theme “Galing ng Pinoy: Local is the new focal,” the AFFI hopes to attract more aspiring Filipino entrepreneurs to go into business by coming up with innovative business concepts. Alternately, they can enter the business scene by becoming franchisees of existing tried-and-tested businesses. More than 300 exhibitors from food retailer to service providers are expected to grace the event. Expo attendees may also find new and interesting business concepts through various breakout sessions that will be held during the 3-day event. OFW agri-preneurs at Villar SIPAG 7th OFW & Family Summit

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who succeeded in their ventures in agriculture take center stage during the 7th OFW and Family Summit held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Senator Cynthia Villar, chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture and Food and director of the organization behind the annual holding of the summit, Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG), said summit attendees were inspired by the experiences shared by agriculture entrepreneurs or agri-preneurs. “Our ultimate dream is to see the day when our kababayans are no longer compelled by lack of local opportunities to work abroad and leave their loved ones behind. With various opportunities sprouting from agriculture, that dream could become a reality sooner than we all think,” Villar said.
