Villar pushes expansion of Las Pinas hospital

With the onslaught of COVID-19 pandemic and the probable occurrence of other emerging infectious diseases in the near future, Sen. Cynthia Villar is pushing for the expansion of the Las Pinas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center (LPGH & STC). During the Senate Committee on Health hearing held May 26, Villar pushed for the passage of Senate Bill 143 which earmarks P500 million to increase the bed capacity of LPGH & STC from  200 to 500. The counterpart measure at the House of Representatives was authored by Las Pinas Rep. Camille Villar and passed on March 2. “Given the health emergency we have today, it becomes imperative to improve our hospitals and health facilities. Increasing the capacity of LPGH & STC will greatly benefit patients in South of Manila and nearby cities and municipalities of Cavite,” Villar said. Newest tent venue inaugurated

The newest tent venue was inaugurated on C5 Extension Road in the City of Las Piñas last Dec. 12. President Rodrigo Duterte was the Guest of Honor during the inauguration of the Tent at Vista Global South. Members of the Villar Family—former Senate President Manny Villar, Sen. Cynthia Villar, Vista Land CEO Paolo Villar, Public Works Sec. Mark Villar and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar-- were also present. Las Piñas lantern makers cite excellent craftsmanship

Residents of Las Piñas City gathered on Dec. 14 to watch the parade of giant colorful lanterns made of recycled materials as part of this year’s celebration of the 13th Las Piñas Parol Festival. Sen. Cynthia A. Villar and representatives from the local government joined spectators as giant lanterns made by local residents were paraded in the city grounds. “A Filipino Christmas is not complete without a traditional parol hanging outside our homes. I am truly amazed by the creativity of the Las Piñeros as they continue to come up with unique and creative designs that make Christmas in our city truly alive and colorful,” Senator Villar said. The festival was launched by Senator Villar thirteen years ago to revive the city’s parol-making industry. Traffic in major thoroughfares in Las Piñas and neighboring towns and cities is expected to ease in time for the holiday season as the second phase of the Las Piñas and fourth phase of the Zapote River Drives road projects were opened to motorists. Sen. Cynthia A. Villar and daughter Camille Villar led the inauguration of the partially completed Phase 2 of the Las Piñas River Drive, a 600-meter road connecting the CAA Bridge to Manuela 4B. Public service is a calling that not everyone can competently and ably deliver, Sen. Cynthia A. Villar said as she rallied career executives and rank-and-file employees to put more heart and integrity in their service to the government. “Public service is a difficult career. You put long hours and great effort in delivering services to the people, at times, if not more often, sacrificing personal time and choices for the greater good of the majority. I have much respect and appreciation to those who opt to work in government over the private sector, which is more financially stable,” Villar said before career executives of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) who partook in an eco-tour, clean-up and tree planting activity at the Las Pinas Parañaque Wetland Park. Sen. Cynthia Villar graces drum & lyre competition

Senator Cynthia A. Villar graced the drum and lyre competition participated in by students coming from 14 public schools in Las Pinas City. The Zapote Elementary School was declared as Grand Champion which received P30,000 cash while Almanza Elementary School and CAA Elementary School won second and third place, receiving P20,000 and P15,000 cash reward, respectively. Consolation prizes of P5,000 were also handed out. The competition was held after the kick off of the two-day 4th Las Pinas River Festival.
