Gladys Reyes: Christopher Roxas is my answered prayer

Actress Gladys Reyes has said that she and her husband Christopher Roxas will renew their marriage vows after being 25 years in a relationship.

"Naisip lang namin na milestone ito. Twenty-five years of togetherness. Like what you have said, 11 years as boyfriend and girlfriend. Then as husband and wife 14 years together," said Reyes during an interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on ABS CBN.

"So sabi ko hindi naman lahat ng (mag-asawa) nakakarating sa ganito. Lalo na we started very young. Sa 'Mara Clara' pa. He was 12, I was 14. Childhood sweethearts pa lang nun, hindi pa masyadong seryoso yun. Laru-laro," she said.


Reyes also said that Roxas is an answered prayer when he came into her life.

"Pero eventually, alam mo 'yun na nagmature yung relationship. Prayers. Answered prayers. I call him my answered prayer. Pinag-pray ko talaga yun eh. I knew then that he's the one for me," she added.

Reyes admitted that she earns more that her husband does in the movies.

"First of all, kung ang pag-uusapan ay yung earning namin sa pag-a-artista, oo naman.


"Dapat lang naman noh kasi mas nauna naman ko sa kanya sa business na ito. Mas nauna naman ako (bilang artista).

"Pero pag dating sa business, syempre may iba s'yang projects. Ibang usapan yun.

She also said that she and her husband invest on quality education of their children.

"Laging sinasabi ng iba mahirap, mahirap magpaaral. Tutoo naman talaga. At mag-i-invest tayo dapat lalo na sa education. Kami talaga ni Christopher, wala kaming question dyan pagdating sa education.


"Kung kayo naman ay malakas-lakas pa ang pangangatawan at kaya nyong ipaghanapbuhay, why not?" she said.

Reyes also said that she spoils her husband so much.

"Kung kaya naman at sabi nga ng asawa ko kung hindi naman aagawin dun sa kabuhayan namin at para dun sa mga anak ko.

Reyes said that she gave her husband a motorbike for their anniversary.


"That's my anniversary gift last year. Ito po galing kay Ryan Agoncillo. Sabi ni Ryan nung birthday ni Luna nun, kasi matagal ng gustong magkaroon ni Christopher ng motorbike kaya lang kontrang kotra ako kasi baka aksidente ganyan.

"Sabi ni Ryan, pero pag ayaw ni misis, wag ha. Naririnig ko eh. Sabi ko parang napapaisip ako eh. Hindi naman 'yan pang karera kasi yang motor na yan pang chill lang.

"Sa akin naman yung vintage car kasi sabi ko kelan pa n'ya ma-e-enjoy yun kapag uu-gud-ugod na sya, di ba? Kung kaya naman ngayon, why not?

"And then I finally decided na maganda as anniversary gift to him. At sobrang happy nya hindi mababayaran yung happiness na nakita ko sa mukha nya," said Reyes. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
