Shaina, Piolo star in 'Ang Panahon ng Halimaw'

Rumored sweethearts Piolo Pascual and Shaina Magdayao are starring in a new film called "Ang Panahon ng Halimaw" which is directed by Lav Diaz.

"Last January we went to Malaysia. We did 'Ang Panahon ng Halimaw,' an anti-musical musical. Lahat, lahat kanta. Lahat kinanta hindi ko alam kung saan ko kinuha yung kapal ng mukha ko. Pero siguro kahit na napakamahiyaan kong tao, kapag nasa harap na ng kamera, kumakapal na yung mukha ko. For the love of Lav (Diaz)," said Magdayao during an interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on ABS CBN.

Asked about Pascual, Magdayao said: "Isa sya sa mga beautiful souls who have decided to stay. And I know na isa sya sa mga taong kaya kong pagkatiwalaan."

Pascual and Magdayao have exclusively decided for several months. Up to these days, however, both stars have refused to confirm the status of their relationship.

"Tapos na po (ang shooting) last January. Hindi ko nga alam paano ka naitawid yun pero yes to all nga ako eh," she said.

Magdayao also described her present state of mind.

"Sinabi ko rin yan sa Instagram ko, yes to all ako ngayon. Yes to all opportunities, yes to everything.Even change. Even sa not so good, yes pa rin but I am going to embrace all of it;

"Sabi ko nga dun sa post ko, ang 2017 yata ay ang taon ng aking pagyakap sa lahat ng magaganda na dumaan sa buhay ko;

"Sa lahat ng mga taong nag-drop by, sa lahat ng nga taong nag-stay. So yes ako to everything," she said.

Magdayao admitted that there was a time she wanted to take a leave from showbiz.

"There was a time na sinabi ko na siguro pahinga na lang muna ako. Or siguro I'll take it slow kasi napapagod na ako. Siguro burned out din (for 22 years);

                                                                         Lav Diaz

"But the moment I started saying yes to everything, doon bumaha ng blessing," the 28-year-old actress said.

Magdayao also appeared on the show to promote her latest afternoon drama "Asintado" which will begin airing on January 15.

This time, for a change, Magdayao will play an off-beat character named Samantha del Mundo.

"I could no say no to a project like this. I was set to take a vacation after 'The Better Half.' Tapos nung in-offer po ito sa akin, naglalaro na sa isip ko, 'how I wish meron akong magampanan na ganitong role;

"Thank you for considering me and trusting me na kaya kong mag-portray ng ganitong klaseng character. But paano ko po gagawin eto yung schedule ko. Tapos aalis pa po ako pupunta pa ako ng Europe kasi at that time, we were finishing 'The Better Half.' So sabi nila cge take your vacation;

"Sana po ma-appreciate nila ang pinaghirapan ko ngayon, ang aking panibagong challenge;

"It's a humbling experience dahil yung mga natutunan ko sa acting, yung mga natutunan ko growing up, yung pagiging sincere sa acting, lahat yung kinailangan kong hubarin to be Samantha del Mundo dahi kakaibang approach ang ginawa;

"Sabi nila ang saya-saya kaya maging kontrabida. Sabi ko ba't parang hindi ko ata yun nararamdaman. Parang minsan kinu-question ko kung kaya ko bang itawid itong role na ito;

"Pero after a month, with the help of everyone, generous naman lahat ng mga ka-eksena ko. Thank God. Nakuha naman at ngayon masasabi ko ang saya saya pala talaga," added Magdayao. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
