Nadine Bornilla impresses listeners of TV5 radio show

Reigning Miss Philippine Youth Simone Nadine Bornilla was rather nervous when she gave her pieces of advice to some pressing problems facing the youth these days but she passed it with flying colors.

During her stint on the popular radio show called "Relasyon" aired daily from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on 92.3 FM, broadcaster Atty. Mel Sta. Maria was simply impressed at Nadine and gave her a thumbs-up sign for being eloquent and sensitive to the issues of teenagers.

"I'm really nervous!" Nadine laughs during a pep talk prior to the radio program. Later, she tackled raging issues on teenage pregnancy, drug addiction, bullying, peer pressure, relationships, etc.

Nadine, 15, adds: "The night before the show, I discussed the issues confronting the youth with my parents. I listened to their opinions. So during the radio show, I will just say what's right. I'm nervous but as an ambassador of Miss Philippine Youth, I have to give advice on certain issues."

Listeners of the radio program were also inspired by Nadine's simple solutions to some of the problems of the youth.

POP NEWS MANILA! asks Nadine to give her pieces of advice to some of the problems facing young Filipinos:

* A girl having problems with her boyfriend

"If she would really like to patch things up with her boyfriend, communication is still the No. 1 solution to everything. They should communicate. If they could not agree on certain things, then they should just set apart and maybe who knows, in the future, sooner in life, they would see each other again."

* Your parents do not agree with your course in college

"I grew up obeying my parents. I would always follow what they will tell me because they will always go right. With your parents' guidance, they will take you to the right path. That's why God gave them to us."

* The kid is down and out

"Communicate with your parents. Communicating with them could ease the stress you're getting in school. For example, bullies. They also have a deeper perspective on their life. They maybe doing this to you because they have bigger problems. Just understand them."

* Someone who is being bullied

"I would tell them to communicate with their teachers, the school personnel. That's the reason why they are there. Schools should have an atmosphere where you will learn and have more friends."

* Teenage pregnancy

"She should tell her parents so that she should know what to do. She really needs her parents' guidance. She cannot just trust her friends with it. She really needs a strong family support. Go to your parents." - ROBERT REQUINTINA
