Jehza vs Katrina: Who will reign at Miss Supranational?

Two Binibining Pilipinas beauty queens are competing at the 10th Miss Supranational beauty pageant which will be held in Poland on December 7.

The Filipino beauty queens are Jehza Huelar, of Davao City, who will wear the Philippines; and Katrina Jayne Dimaranan, who will represent USA.

Huelar, 23, of Davao City, earned the right to represent the country in the international pageant after she won Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2018 in March.

This is the third time Huelar joined Binibining Pilipinas. In 2016, she won second runner-up and in 2017, she landed in the top 15.

"It's an honor to represent the country in Miss Supranational pageant. Please support me in my journey to the pageant. This is for the Philippines," says Huelar.

Dimaranan, a Filipino-American beauty queen, was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Tourism 2012. She was expected to compete at the Miss Tourism Queen International 2012 but the pageant was cancelled. Then she was handpicked by organizers abroad to represent the US at the 10th Miss Supranational contest.

Now based in California, Dimaranan is currently a business management student. She will also appear in the upcoming reality show called “The People’s Queen”, a training boot camp for aspiring beauty queens.

“I am beyond grateful to be chosen as Miss Supranational USA 2018 and to compete in the 10th edition of the Miss Supranational Pageant. As the first ever candidate under the new Miss Supranational USA National Director, Cece Asuncion, I will do my best to make the country proud. I take great pride in my Filipino heritage and to be representing the USA, the country I call home. It is with this American spirit of diversity that I am excited to share with the people of Poland and the rest of the world.” says Dimaranan.

In February, the Miss Supranational Organization announced that well-known Filipino American producer, modeling agency director and television producer Cece Asuncion has acquired the rights to select the United States of America's representative for Miss Supranational starting from the 10th edition of the pageant in 2018.

The Philippines won the Miss Supranational beauty pageant when Mutya Johanna Datul was crowned in 2013, the first for her country and Asia.

So far, the highest honors won by USA in the Miss Supranational pageant are Allyn Rose (3rd runner-up, 2014) and Krystelle Khoury (4th runner-up, 2011). - ROBERT REQUINTINA
