KOMUTR app enhances social distancing between drivers, commuters

A group of visionary information technology (IT) experts has developed a mobile application for a cashless, contact-less, and card-less transaction between drivers and passengers in the public transport sector that will enhance social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was announced by Jaydee Chua-Gungon, chief operating officer of KOMUTR (https://www.komutr.ph/), a group that developed a mobile application-based automatic fare collection system for public utility vehicles.

“In this time of COVID-19 pandemic where social distancing is a must and contactless transaction is the safest, our KOMUTR app is very fitting and we think it will answer the worries especially in the fare collections for the public transport sector. The KOMUTR app, we believe, is also part of the solution to the present crisis,” Chua-Gungon said in a statement.

KOMUTR is a two-in-one mobile application that simplifies commuting experience.

It is mainly an automatic fare collection system application that can be used by public utility vehicles such as jeepneys, FX, UV express vans and buses.

The KOMUTR app aims to modernize fare collections by improving the on-hand cash payment in PUVs, lessening passenger to driver interference and scrapping additional expenses by using already available mobile phones.

Chua-Gungon said that through the KOMUTR app, commuters can book their travels by using the QR code to contact UV express terminals for seat reservations.

“Gamit lang ang app, wala nang hassle at mabilis ang pagbabayad sa mga driver tsaka maiiwasan pa ang kadalasan na pagtatalo ng driver at pasahero tungkol sa sukli. User-friendly ito dahil magre-register lang, free naman ito, maglo-load lang sa tindahan, pwede mo na gamtin ang KOMUTR app,” he said.

“KOMUTR app is a product of our desire to help the government, especially President Duterte, in the fight against the virus. We, in komutr.ph, believe that all of us should cooperate with the authorities by practicing health safety protocols and following the regulations  at all times because at the end of the day, what we are protecting is our very own lives and the lives of our loved ones,” Chua-Gungon further noted.
