Lumina Events Management goes global, bares projects for 2020
Lumina Events Management is going global!
This was revealed by Bernard Yabut Maybituin, managing and artistic director and stage director of Lumina Events Management, during an exclusive interview as his team prepares for a hectic schedule of events for 2020.
"We are now being recognized abroad. We have lined up big projects this year. In January, we will have a big product launch. February and March, Mutya Ti La Union. This is the biggest pageant in the north. In March, it's Ginoo at Bb. Laguna pageant," said Maybituin.
He added: "There's a big provincial tourism expo which will be sponsored by a big province in the Visayas. May Australia and US shows din kami."
"In February also, we will have the Makati Art Festival and Caracol," Maybituin said.
Maybituin said that he just arrived from Australia where his team did the Miss World Australia show.
"I started travelling na rin. Everyday is a learning process for me. I don't stop. I always research. Hindi ko man mapuntahan iyong mga shows abroad pero I make it sure mapapanood ko sila sa Internet," he said.
Asked what fans could expect in pageants this year, Maybituin said: "It will be a totally different Philippine pageantry. Nahiwalay na ang Miss Universe sa Bb. Pilipinas. I guess that will send a big expectation from pageant enthusiasts."
"Like in our company, we would like to set a standard in doing pageantry. Kahit na city or provincial ito, we make it sure na ibang klase ang presentation nito because we always abide by our hashtag #onetheatricalexperience by giving our audience a theatrical experience in terms of lighting direction, staging, choreography;
"Pag sinabi kasing pageant, alam na agad ng mga tao na may ganitong number, ganitong segment. Nakaka-bore. So kami nilalagyan muna namin ng ibang twist or effect;
"Dapat maiba iyong klase ng presentation pagdating sa treatment na tipong gusto namin mala-TV din ang dating, mala-production. Ang opening number iniiba," said Maybituin.
He lamented that the recent Miss Universe shows lack luster when it comes to opening number.
"Sa Miss Universe, nawala na ang opening number. Importante ang opening number. Dapat may pasabog. Dapat may movements na makita. So ganun ang ginagawa namin, may theatrical approach," he commented.
"Sa fashion show, I always cling to the theatrical principle kasi galing akong theater. Iniiba ko rin ang drama. I don't usually follow the same formula or blocking. It's boring usually for Filipino audience. We put theatrical presentation;
"We always put artistic element in our presentation. We want to collab. Kasama diyan iyong designers, artists. Gusto rin namin ma-involve iyong all forms of arts like literature, the performing arts, the digital arts;
"The elements on the LED wall dapat artistic, dapat creative. Kasi pumapasok na ang mundo ng technology sa digital arts," said Maybituin.
