John Regala denies suffering from heart attack

Character actor John Regala has said that he never suffered a stroke or heart attack as suggested by a photo that went viral recently.

"Hindi po ako na-stroke. Hindi po ako inatake sa puso. Malakas po ako. Malakas na malakas," said Regala as he shadow box, during an interview on "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" on GMA 7 recently.

Regala, 51, suspected that he passed out when his sugar level went down because of complications with diabetes.

"Nangyari 'yan nung February 15. Hilung-hilo ako nyan. Umiikot ang paningin ko tapos mga tuhod ko hindi ko maihakbang," said the actor, when he was showed a photo of him nearly unconscious in front of a supermarket in Bacoor, Cavite.

"Bumaba ako para bumili sa isang convenient store. Sobrang init, mga tanghali yun. Biglang umikot ang panignin ko, so umupo ako ng sandali at nangangatog ang tuhod ko. Biglang nagpass out na talaga ako," he added.

Regala has checked in to a nearby hotel in the area following renovations in his home.

A certain Toto Mendoza said that he tried to help the actor.

"Pinainom namin s'ya ng tubig at medyo nagblush yung mukha nya. Sabi ko idol may taping pa tayo wag ka munang matutulog," Mendoza said.

"Bawal sa akin yung iinit. Kasi kagagaling ko lang sa hospital nun. E kailangang ipa-rush ko na talaga yung pagpapa-pintura ng bahay," said Regala, who is John Paul Guido Boucher Scherrer in real life.

After 30 minutes, Mendoza said that Regala became finally conscious. "Sabi ko dalhin ko sya sa hospital ayaw naman nya."

Actress Ruby Regala, mother of John's, has said that this son is suffering from ailments.

"Yung spinal column n'ya meron ng arthritis, 'yung gout. Tapos meron syang konti dito sa heart. Pero nagagamot naman, Nung nakita ko yun, sabi ko bakit hindi mo ako tinawagan. Ayaw nya kasi akong nag-aalala," she said.

She also said that her son is a good person who will die for his family.

"Matulungin sya kahit mawalan na sya ng sentimo ibibigay nya. 'Yun lang, wag mo lang aapihin kung sino man sa pamilya n'ya at talagang makikipaglaban sya ng patayan," her mother added. - Robert Requintina/Tempo
